The flute set just came in and I took the flute out of the case. I put my mouth up to the hole (well, just a little far away from it) and I made kind of like a ,toot, sound. And it actually made sound! it sounded like music to me.

Oh yes, the flute really works. It only has one note, but that's better than nothing. Flute is my major instrument, and it is my experience that the AG flute is very difficult to play, even for experienced players. Congratulations on making a sound!

I just got the flute set too! I had no idea... well I guess so since Felicity's guitar, Josie's Piano, and the violin work. My girls are giving a Christmas concert!

I would love to see pictures of your concert!
Can the dolls hold the flute or the violin without help?

This is another item that I am starting to get interested in along with the violin. I had no clue that they actually make music. How does the violin sound?
I don't know how to play any musical instruments so this is the only reason that I didn't get them before. But I am rethinking this since they are so cute! What is the quality like?

I too wonder if the violin makes sounds. Even squeeky sounds would be fine.
I'd love to hear a sound bit from these instruments. Does anyone know how to record and upload sound files? That would be helpful in deciding what instruments to buy.

My violin looks as if it *could* make sound, but it isn't very likely. The pegs are not very good at keeping the strings taunt enough to play, and the bow is similar. Also, it does come with itty bitty rosin, but since there is no rosin on the horsehair of the bow to begin with, it would take quite a bit of conditioning to get it to play. In other words, it's more work than it's probably worth, but an actual violinist could probably make it happen with some effort. I took my required semesters of string study, but I would hesitate to tinker with it too much. I don't want to break it!

i tuned both Felicity's guitar and the violin so that they can play, though squeakily. I wish Josefina's piano were more in tune though. I don't know how to fix it.

How did you tune the guitar? What pitches are appropriate?
~Abby, guitar in hand....
